Boca 10K Run, 5K Run or Walk & 1 Mile Fun Run

Q & A

40th Annual Running

Last Minute Notes for Sunday’s Race;

Leave Early:  Whatever time you plan on leaving, leave 15 minutes earlier…The line of traffic entering the park, slows parking down, so leaving early not only helps us, but ensures you make it to the start on time!

A1A Southbound from Spanish River Blvd will close around 7:15ish, ( you Should already be in the park by then ) and you’ll have to drive all the way down Federal Hwy to Palmetto Park Rd to A1A northbound to get back to the park ( at least a 20 min ride )
North bound traffic on A1A will remain open except for a few minutes at the start of the race.

The race is run in the south bound lane of A1A.  We use both sides of A1A for the start, so by the time you reach the south entrance to the park; everyone must have merged into the southbound lane.

New this year:  The start line is moving north about 300 ft to allow for a better view of the ocean at the start. This means the 5K will turn-around sooner, and the 10K is going to take a slightly different route just past the 3 mile mark, and then they will continue back on the old course ( which is back tracking to the park, just like other years ) See the maps page on the race website for a map of the courses and of the changes.

The race runs south on A1A till your turn-around then you’ll be running on the 8 ft wide sidewalk back to the park. There will be some regulars out walking that are clueless that a race is happening, be kind and just go around them. ( remember it’s their tax money that pays for the roads and sidewalks you’re running on )

At some point the 10K runners will catch up to the 5K runners, and the 5K runners are asked to keep to the right side of the path and walk or run no more than 2 wide, so the runners can pass safely!

The 5K will have 1 water stop that will be passed twice. The 10K will have 2 water stops that will both be passed twice.  Fleet Feet Sports in Delray Beach is manning the 1st water stop, and The Runners Edge in Boca is manning the 2nd water stop!

Registration opens in the park around 6:15ish, you can pick-up your bib and packet race morning.  Tee shire size is not guaranteed race morning, although I did order additional shirts above the 800 mentioned on the web site for all the stragglers who leave me hanging as to how many shirts to order, because you wait till the last minute to register but still want a shirt and in your correct size!!!  Our crystal ball broke, so we try our best to guess if your running or not and your tee shirt size, but we may have guessed wrong, or maybe not!

Someone will be doing a warm-up around the stage area before the race, stop by and get in some stretching before your run!

We’ll need to head everyone out to the startline, starting around 7:15, so you have enough time to walk up to the road and the new startline.  There is a path to the road directly east of the registration area.

The food after your finish is being served by Fit Foods Café. You can find information on their restaurant in the packet-pick-up bag, if you’re in the area of their restaurant stop by and have a meal one day and say "Thanks" for your community involvement!

Our race announcer again this year is Dave Ragsdale, a well-known local athlete and the race voice you’ll likely hear announcing at an Ironman event.

Timing is provided by Accuchip Timing, Al & Susan Harding and their family and staff have been timing this race flawlessly for countless years.  You’ll find results posted on their website shortly after the race concludes.  Be sure to check the posted results to make sure your information is correct. Any information EXCEPT you finish time is correctable ( that was your doing! )

If you’re not able to stay and pick up your award, or have a friend pick it up, after the race they will be at Runners Edge in Boca for 2 week.

The awards for the 5K will be done 1st, hopefully around 9:00am after the Little People races finish! 10K awards are after that!

Registration for the Little People race can be done in the park race morning!
